Although we appreciate the value of your request, it falls outside our current program guidelines. The foundation awards the majority of its grants to organizations meeting our current focus :
The Global Health program is working to close the health gap between people living in rich and poor countries and ensure that lifesaving advances in health are created and shared with those who need them most. The Global Health program has these priority areas : Infectious Diseases, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Reproductive Health, Global Health Strategies and Global Health Technologies.
The Education program seeks to address the current inequities in preparation for, and access to college for all students in the United States, especially those who are historically underserved. To dramatically increase high school graduation rates, the foundation is helping create new small schools and transform existing schools into smaller, more effective learning environments. The foundation is also reducing financial barriers to higher education through several scholarship programs.
The Global Libraries program has provided public libraries across the United States with computers, Internet access, and training and is currently working to maintain free public access to information technology in public libraries. Additionally, the foundation has worked with Native American communities in the Southwest, and internationally with Canada, Chile and Mexico to increase public access to the benefits of the Internet.
The Pacific Northwest program is improving the lives of the region’s most vulnerable members. Through Community Grants, the foundation supports Washington and Portland area non-profit organizations that provide social services to at-risk populations, particularly children and families and includes Sound Families, a regional transitional housing program.
